Dark Horse: A Bold New Classical Music Collective

I’m thrilled to launch a daring new project with my close friend and one of the most brilliant artists I know, Alexander Grimes. Together, we’re founding Dark Horse — an ensemble that brings together some of the most exceptional musicians on their instruments, artists who are at the top of their craft but who defy the traditional mold of classical music.

Dark Horse explores both the canon and the unconventional — from classical masterworks to original works, arrangements and genre-bending pieces — all curated into programs with strong, thought-provoking themes. Our performances will take place in unexpected, atmospheric venues: botanical gardens, underground crypts, and other spaces that challenge the usual concert experience and invite audiences into something immersive and unforgettable.

Project 1: Botanica

Concept:
This album will be recorded with both audio and video. Inspired by the idea of a modern-day Fantasia, the use of creative set design, lighting and repertoire will conspire to transport the viewer to a magical sound-world of lush strings and flute. The recording will take place in Berlin, June 2025.
